Andrew McMahon named new chairman of AXA Advisors

Former AXA Equitable executive to oversee brokerage management, recruiting. AXA Advisors has made Andrew McMahon its new chairman. He replaces Robert Jones, who retired last week after a 41-year career.
McMahon will continue to serve as executive v.p. of AXA Equitable Life Insurance.
In his role as chairman of AXA Advisors, McMahon reports to AXA Financial's CEO Christopher Condron. AXA Advisors and AXA Equitable are units of New York-based AXA Financial -- which in turn is part of Paris-based AXA Group.
Alignment
"Andrew has made significant contributions in strengthening the efficiency and effectiveness of our retail distribution organization since joining the company in 2005," says Condron. "He is the natural successor to continue to build on the foundation he and Bob Jones created to drive profitable growth across retail, to enhance our value proposition for new and existing financial professionals, and to further align our business processes in pursuit of the company's long term goals."
McMahon had been COO of retail distribution at AXA Equitable; in his new role as chairman ofAXA Advisors he assumes overall responsibility for retail distribution. His other new responsibilities call for him to focus on management oversight, productivity enhancement and advisor recruitment for AXA Advisors.
Before he joined AXA Equitable in 2005, McMahon was an insurance-industry specialist with McKinsey.
AXA Advisors fields 6,000 "captive" registered representatives. Most of these brokers work out of AXA Advisors' 60 branch offices in the U.S., but some of them run own-brand shops.
AXA Financial's brokerage affiliate AXA Network provides third-party products to insurance carriers. -FWR
